Bodum Pavina 2.5-Ounce Double-Wall Thermo Glasses (Espresso/Shot), Set of 2

The Bodum Pavina Double Wall Shot Glass is 2.5 ounces in size and can be used for cold or warm beverages. Its unique design is appealing to the eye when filled with your favorite beverage. With its double layer of borosilicate glass it appears as though the liquid is 'floating' within the glass. They will not sweat when filled with a cold beverage, so you will not have to use a coaster. The double wall creates a thermal effect, helping to keep your cold drinks cold and your hot drinks hot for longer periods of time. These mouth blown glasses are an exciting product for any home, restaurant, or cafe and they are a definite conversation piece. Bodum’s insulated glassware is made from durable Borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass is a strong heat-resistant glass traditionally used to make scientific lab glass. Stronger than traditional “soda-lime” glass, borosilicate can be used for everything from drinkware to cookware. Borosilicate glass substitutes boron oxide in place of the soda and lime used in everyday glassware. The boron oxide acts as the glue holding the silicate together. Due to small size of boron particles, the glass is held together tighter, resulting in a stronger, lighter glass. Borosilicate glass doesn’t need to be as thick as traditional glass to be just as strong due to the bonding capability boron oxide. Borosilicate is simply a different type of glass that is resistant to temperature swings and scratching. Because the particles are held together so tightly, borosilicate glass is resistant to temperature swings, In addition to being dishwasher safe borosilicate will not become cloudy over time; you can rest assured that after 1,000 cycles, the glass will be as clear as the day you bought it.

Amazon.com Review At last, a glass that won't burn or freeze your hand. Two walls of clear glass with an air layer in-between not only keep drinks cold--or hot--but prevent condensation from forming on the outside. So, an ice-cold shot of vodka or a steamy espresso feels just right, no matter the temperature. And coasters won't be needed, either. Winner of the prestigious European iF Design Award, the mouth-blown Pavina glass exhibits Bodum's flair for the modern. Each two-ounce glass curves beguilingly and fits the palm just right. Mouth-blown of borosilicate glass, which is quite a bit thinner yet much more durable than regular glass, the two Pavina glasses in this set are safe for both the microwave and dishwasher, resist temperature swings, and resist scratching and dulling. Care should be taken when placing ice cubes in an empty glass, and metal spoons for stirring are discouraged. --Ann Bieri Editor's Note: Because each glass is mouth-blown, each one may have slight differences in height, thickness, and weight. Bodum recommends using care when placing ice into the glass to avoid fracturing the inner layer. You should also avoid using metal spoons or placing the glass into a crowded dishwasher.

I understand the cool factor drew me into the cups to keep the temperature of a cappuccino as long as it takes me to get to the bottom of the cup. In addition, it is nice not to have coasters (especially if you have men or children at home). The 9 oz cup is less than 4 inches in height, which fit perfectly into the filler neck of my super-automatic espresso machine Saeco (which I also love). My husband and I had four of these cuts of more than 6 months and not one of them is broken. I say this because the 9 oz cups seem to be much more robust than the 21 oz PAVINA glasses of iced tea. We broke one of the 21 oz cups with the ice cube that has come before in the cup. We broke two in the first two weeks. Bottom line, I can not recommend 21 ounces PAVINA However, the 9 oz PAVINA glasses are very sturdy, survived six months of daily use, with less than gracious owners I think you will be very satisfied with your purchase of PAVINA 9 oz cups. UPDATE: July 18, 2006 All four PAVINA 9 oz mugs are still intact, even with frequent use. I still recommend this product. 101 of 103 people found the following review helpful. Because it is not a cold is almost one of everything. For Takase No picture can do justice to the glasses. They have nothing in common with the aesthetics of a double wall cup I've ever seen - elegant, minimalist, super bright and light as a feather. They really keep the material cold (or hot, as the case may be). They are even dishwasher. But they are very vulnerable. I accidentally hit the edge of a spoon, and within half hour, the small crack to spread, and the glass was in fragments. But if you are careful with them and keep them from children, animals, and it seems to me, they will serve you well 78-80 customers this review helpful. nice glass, but it's seriously high maintenance costs by GBJ We bought 4 drinks for Christmas. They keep liquids hot or cold. They are pleasant to look, and we do not have one party a month later, it is not chipped or cracked. After the first glass cracked efforts we have made to be foolish, as delicate as possible with the other third I want to wash by hand, care being taken to hit anything and let it air dry. The next time we went to the use of glass, it would have a jump. We are are still scratching heads as to why the cracks happened and what could we do differently to prevent it. They are just too fragile, and is more than $ 70 directly to the trash. See all 649 customer reviews ....
